January Issue

Happy New Year!

Welcome back for the 2nd semester!

It's great to be back at school for our 2nd semester.  I hope everyone had a safe and happy Christmas Holiday season.  It was nice to be away from school for a couple of weeks and "Sharpen the Saw".

Leader in Me Habit of the Month:

Habit 5 – Seek first to understand, then be understood.

  • I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings
  • I try to see things from other viewpoints
  • I listen to others without interrupting
  • I listen with my ears, my eyes and my heart
  • I am confident in voicing my ideas
Take a few minutes a day/week and talk to your kids about the 7 Habits and focus in on Habit 5 this month.

There are parent resources on the "Leader in Me" website @ http://www.theleaderinme.org/parents/

Mid-Year Testing

DIBELS testing is this week for grades K, 1, 2.  Here is a link for the updated Benchmark goals:

DIBELS Benchmark Goals

If you have any questions regarding the Benchmark Goals or your child's DIBELS scores please let me know or contact your child's teacher.

All students in grades K-5 will be going through Benchmark testing in Global Scholar.

Global Scholar is a web-based assessment testing students go through 3 times a year at CES.  Since the Global Scholar testing is web-based so our teachers are able to use the data immediately in planning lessons accordingly for students.
