February Post

Welcome to February!

January was a fast month and a crazy month for school.  We missed several days due to weather issues but we are in full swing now for the 2nd semester.

Sickness absences: we are starting to have a lot of absences at school.  Cold and Flu season has hit us hard.  Please read over the information below concerning staying healthy during this time.

Cold and Flu Season Reminders

***Please read over these reminders and tips for staying healthy during cold and flu season***

Sick students stay home
  • ***** Fever free for 24 hours is our rule ******
  • We are having an issue with parents sending their sick child to school
  • Students who have a fever, feel nauseated, are vomiting, or have diarrhea should stay home
  • Don’t come back too soon.  Please make sure your child is ready to come back to school.
  • ***** Fever free for 24 hours is our rule ******
Promoting hand washing
  • Washing hands well and often will protect students from getting infected by and spreading bacteria and viruses
Important times to wash hands:
  • after using the bathroom
  • before eating lunch or snacks
  • after outdoor activities
  • when hands get dirty from classroom activities
Teaching and modeling hygienic coughing, sneezing, and nose-blowing
  • Respiratory infections can spread from student to student in airborne droplets from coughs and sneezes.
  • Please model how to cough or sneeze into a tissue or an elbow — not into hands.
  • Nose-blowing can also spread germs
  • Make sure students are blowing their nose and throwing the tissue in trash immediately
